Daily Light on the Daily Path- Feb. 15th English Standard Version

Proverbs 20:9

Who can say, “I have made my heart pure;  I am clean from my sin”?

Psalm 14:2-3

2 The Lord looks down from heaven on the children of man

    to see if there are any who understand who seek after God.

3 They have all turned aside; together they have become corrupt,

    there is none who does good not even one.

Proverbs 8:8

All the words of my mouth are righteous;

there is nothing twisted or crooked in them.

Editor's note: the pronoun "my" here refers to Wisdom meaning the One who created the world with wisdom. So this passage is in contrast with the last two, meaning human beings are in general in sin, but from the mouth of Wisdom, there is only righteousness.

Proverbs 7:18-19

18 Come, let us take our fill of love till morning;

     let us delight ourselves with love.

19 For my husband is not at home; he has gone on a long journey;

Editor's note: the pronoun "us" here refers to the Evil One personified as a prostitute.  So this passage is in contrast with the last one, meaning the Evil One wants to lure people away from a relationship that is pure and holy, glamorizing sinful entanglement.
Isaiah 64:6
We have all become like one who is unclean and all our righteous deeds are like a polluted garment. We all fade like a leaf, and our iniquities, like the wind, take us away.

Galatians 3:22  But the Scripture imprisoned everything under sin, so that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe.

2 Corinthians 5:19  that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation.

1 John 1:8-9

If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
